Summer Splash

19 06 2008

Two weeks ago we had our 3rd and 4th grade Summer Splash event and it was a blast!! A total of about 16 kids showed up to have fun in the sun. One of the greatest moments was when Sarah Herrman got bombarded with water balloons! It was a great time in which the kids were challenged to find ways that they can serve in their own lives. Here are a few pictures that only capture a fraction of the fun we had!

We took a moment from the fun to take a group shot.

Summer Splash

4 06 2008

Saturday, June 7th 12:30p-3:30p

For the first time we are doing a Summer Splash. Summer Splash is for our incoming 3rd graders and 4th graders (and even a few of our 4th graders that just went to 5th grade). It will be a time to hang and stay cool in the summer heat as we swim and play with super soakers! I am excited to see all of you who are planning to come out. Along with the fun of swimming and water and a great BBQ, we will be giving each kid a summer challenge. This challenge is to help kids look for ways that they can give to God, in their own way. If you need more information please email me and I would be happy to get you paperwork. See you this Saturday at 12:30.

Times are Changing

19 05 2008

It seems as if a lot of things have been changing lately, not only at RMCC and Children’s but in the world we live in. Our economy has changed drastically in the past year, so much that many have lost their jobs and some are thinking of new ways to commute to work in order to save on gas. Here in Children’s we have changed from using the accronym VBS (Vacation Bible School) to using SE (Summer Explosion). We are currently in the midsts of changing preschool curriculum and soon many of the kids who attend our church will be changing rooms as we promote on June 1st. The big change will be our service time change this Sunday. Our new times will be 9:00a and 10:30a

How we react to change defines who we are and who we put our trust in. I find it most difficult to deal with change when I am trusting myself to get things done right. Who do you put your trust in? Proverbs 3:5 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” How many times when change happens do we resist that change by leaning on our own wishes and desires instead of letting God lead us through that change.

Change is inevitable, it will happen. Whether it happens inside the church walls or out in the world, it will happen. How people see us react to change could have an eternal impact on whoever see us. My prayer for myself is that I would remember to, “Trust in the Lord forever, for the LORD, the LORD, is the Rock eternal.” (Isaiah 26:4).

New Service Times: 9:00a and 10:30a

Summer Fun Is Coming

15 05 2008

You can tell that summer is coming in more ways than one. For us here in AZ the first tripple digit day is only a few days away (one of many I am sure), school is just about to let out and our summer programs about to begin.

I am so excited to see what God is going to do this summer here at Red Mountain. We have so many opportunities for kids to be involved in and learn about the love of Christ.  Activities include everything from a summer swim for 3rd and 4th graders to our annual Summer Explosion. An activity that is extremly exciting to me is our first annual CHAMPION Hoops Camp for kids who have completed 1st through 6th grade. Our guest speaker will be former Harlem Globetrotter, Melvin Adams! If you know anyone who might be interested have them visit RMCC’s website for more information.

Summer seems to somehow bring a sense of busyness, with everyone trying to get vacations and trips in before the hectic life of school starts back up again in the fall. We hope that you take some time and experiece what God is doing here this summer at Red Mountain Community Church.
